mill creek

The first time I featured Mill Creek, on May 3rd, the willows were leafing out. This is perhaps my favorite spot in the surrounding area. I has almost a storybook feel to it. Streams are usually hidden, meandering along in the massive farmland, only crossing rural roads at a few points. The sad part is that if you mention Mill Creek, 99.9 percent of the population will think only of the huge McMansion community the developer named after the waterway. Mill Creek doesn't exactly lead anywhere, but from the nearby Fox River it would be possible for me to reach the Illinois, and on to the Mississippi and the Gulf of Mexico. That's a lovely daydream for the armchair river runner.

When I saw this image, I immediately thought that it could easily have come from a Thomas Hardy novel. Then I thought that I may have already said that when you posted the scene before. Nonetheless, it is a beauty, and like you, I'd love nothing more than to be in a small boat, meandering with the stream wherever it goes.

I'm not sure how many times I can say thank you for the wondering images you post and the commentary you give them. But I really do look forward to visiting them each day.

Thank you so much Pablo for your comments. It's always good to know that someone is viewing and reading. The prose waxes and wanes with my health...sometimes not bad and sometimes just a quick note.

I vowed to return to this spot in the fall, it has such a storybook feel to it and I wanted to capture it in the fall. Unfortunately as you can see, willows do not provide the show displayed by other trees.

Very lovely with a dreamy quality. It looks like a painting.
Keep it up!

That is so nice. The light makes it look like a painting by ...someone from Art History 101...been a long time.
