sentinels

The open farmlands of northern Illinois would not be the place for you if you're one of those people with a phobia of open spaces. For me fear lies in crossing bridges over open water. The vast spaces of the wide open prairies holds stark and simple beauty.

Two grain storage buildings stand as silent sentinels, stark geometric shapes standing guard at the edge of a thousands acres of corn in Big Rock.

Beautiful, but then they always are.

Is this a current photo? Still have corn, corn that's green, this time of the year?

We get some awesome vista when we go out to western Kansas. Definitely know you're in farm country then.

No corn that green yet. This was taken earlier in the summer when the hope was still that the crops could rebound with some rain. With winter coming there might be a bit of delving into the archives, especially when we're deep in the dirty snow phase.

Thanks as always for the comments, they are greatly appreciated.

Your description is as beautiful as your pictures. They create a sense of yearning.
