the homestead

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Welcome to The Farmer's Wife. It's day one of the photoblog, and it's my hope that you will find my images interesting enough to return again and again. Take a minute to bookmark this page and travel along with me, down the back roads of middle America. Watch the crops being planted and harvested, and the seasons change. The unused barns will crumble under the elements and we shall find some beauty in decay. I'll promise you'll love the ride, and If you stay awhile, I'll bake a pie!

I'm in!

Beautiful shot! I love the curve of the rows in the field, and the sky looks like spring... Makes me long for the countryside!

Lara - welcome! I'm sure glad I won't be traveling alone. The symmetry of the fields is hypnotic, and you're right, perhaps spring is finally here.

Your blog got my attention and made me think of some photos I did last week at a local auction site where farm machinery and other items were being lined up to be sold this weekend.

I started with the template you're using, but found it too restrictive since I wanted my images to be a bit larger. I'd like to see your images a bit larger, too, since it looks like you're going to have some good ones.

I'll be back.

Thanks alot for the suggestion. As you can see I've changed the template. I'm using "Hello" to send the pics and now I've got to figure out how to size it large than 480 pixels...any ideas? You have to understand, I'm old...and surprised I've even figured out how to do this much! - - Suzanne

I love this shot. I love the lines of the foreground leading to the barn, farmhouses, etc. in the background. I look forward to visiting your blog on a regular basis.

Barking Yak - Oh, I hope you visit regularly, I hate to travel alone. You know, these back roads can be quite lonely. - Suzanne

As, a central IL farmers wife, I loved your pictures and commentaries. I see these sites everyday, but don't always see the beauty of them. Thanks for reminding me I'm so lucky. Who knows...maybe someday we'll meet a back road junction enjoying the scenery

What kind of pie?!?

Oh gosh, I did promise pie on the very first day...and I still haven't baked one for you guys. Since it's fall it will have to be sweet potato pecan pie.
