aged

The boards and battens of the barn exterior have aged to a silvery grey. Protected from the weather the interior woods glows with it's natural color.

I love all the colors in old barn wood. For instance, your photo has a lot of purples, greens, blues, some remnants of the old red stain. Then there's the browns, and bits of black. This is the kind of wood I love to capture in watercolor. Amazing how it changes, isn't it?

Our small piece of my grandfather's old barn has this same gray weathered look.
