crop

The air has cooled in the evening and a quick visit to the garden reveals that the growing season is winding down. Another year completes its cycle.

This beautiful purple cabbage will add color to our dinner salad.

Fall is my favorite time of year. Soon the air will be tinged with woodsmoke and maple sugaring will begin.

This would make a lovely subject for a watercolor painting. I just might have to borrow it, if it's okay?

Gorgeous! I've only seen these cabbages denuded of outer leaves and buffed (or waxed?) to a shine, in my supermarket. Thank you.

katkit - Absolutely! Go for it. I think it would make a wonderful watercolor.

Nancy - It's such a beautiful natural form, so much better in it's original state and not waxed.

I wish everyone could have just a small patch of a garden, perhaps only a bucket of tomatoes on the deck. It's really fun to watch the stuff grow and then harvest for your table.
