vintage ride

There are many vintage car owners in the area and hundreds more vintage cars languishing in barns and outbuildings, waiting for the day when loving hands restore them to their former glory.

Car shows and cruise nights fill the local calendars. But the weather is turning and the cars will be stored safely for the winter.

As winter comes the challenge returns - how to find an image a day in a bleak landscape with nothing much going on. The fairs are done for the season, reenactors have packed up as we enter the down time.

I never thought of your daily photos as a challenge. You seems such a natural with a camera, and a person with a good eye.

Thanks kkm. There must have been a large car show nearby because there were tons of beautiful cars on the road.

Pablo - Sometimes the creative juices flow freely and sometimes the vagaries of old age and the pressures of work seem to destroy that creativity into a thin vapor.

The evening I accepted Garfield Museums award a young woman asked me, "Where do you get your inspiration". I'll have to admit I'd never asked myself that and had no intelligent response. So I asked as if I were playing that psychological game - say the first thing that pops into your head. I turned to her and said, "my deadline". And that is basically the truth. I have imposed a (mostly) daily deadline, which forces me to look around and find something that's hopefully interesting.

Thanks as always for the comments and thanks to my loyal "Porch Sitters" who check out this site each and every day.

I just happened by your site and love the window that you've provided into your world. how cool that I (who live near the ocean on the west coast of Canada) can pop in for a visit with you in your life, in rural Illinois.
Thanks for the beautiful photographs.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your site. Although I've only lived in this area for 5 years, I can't believe how much "progress" has occurred. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that's NOT happy about the newest Target store coming to town, just 4 miles away from the other Target. Well, I know I'm not alone anymore on that. "bigger homes, less money" is a phrase that simply makes me sad.
Thank you for your work here.

Don't worry about finding more subjects. You certainly have the eye.
