the cutest little sheep on the planet

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It did my heart good to see that the Olde English Babydoll Southdown sheep were represented at Garfield Farm's Rare Breeds Show. These docile little sheep are so happy looking. They have fine fleece but with my meager spinning talent I'd probably never be able to spin their wool into anything that resembles yarn.

The breeder was from nearby Hampshire, Illinois and she purchased her first ram from the exhibitor that was in attendance a couple years ago. If you've been reading for awhile you'll remember that those sheep each wore their own little red bandana.

What a fantastic photograph. Yes this sheep does look happy, almost laughing. I am trying to persuade my husband at the moment to let me get a few sheep. Maybe this photo will help with the persuasion!

Great photo! I agree, precious sheep.

Sara - They are a miniature breed and docile. Search on the web there's lots of information on the breed and lists of breeders. If your husband sees one there's no way he could resist!

Lisa -you can't believe how cute they are. She had one "black sheep" also.

Great picture! The little red bandanas would have been so cute around little faces like that!

Judy - That's where I learned to spin....Natasha taught me! That's not to say that I've spent the time necessary to perfect the technique though. Anyone in northern Illinois should give Natasha a call at Esther's Place. She's a great spinning teacher and you'll have lots of fun. Look in my archives and you'll see Natasha demonstrating the spindle method of spinning.
