Really enjoying the fair shots. Is this cowgirl a relative or just a photo op? It always amazes me when these kids work a huge steer that outweighs them tenfold.
Mark - the local living history farm offers ox driving classes. I've photographed the event and always believed it would be a great corporate management exercise!!! Just think about it. It's the ultimate exercise in communication.
As a former non-profit leader, I can think of many times when ox-driving would have come in handy in trying to get everyone moving in the same direction. But we couldn't use harnesses and whips.
The Farmer's Wife lives 9 miles from anything. Join her on a journey to connect with the rest of the world and find some common ground. Visit anytime. The screen door will be open and the porch light will be on.

The cowgirl is just a photo op. They work these animals from a young age to accustom them to being moved around and such.
No matter, an animal as big as this must be respected and a tad bit of apprehension can be healthy.
I love this photo - what a determined face! Something about her expression and posture seems to exude confidence. Great shot.
