Really enjoying the fair shots. Is this cowgirl a relative or just a photo op? It always amazes me when these kids work a huge steer that outweighs them tenfold.

The cowgirl is just a photo op. They work these animals from a young age to accustom them to being moved around and such.

No matter, an animal as big as this must be respected and a tad bit of apprehension can be healthy.

Mark - the local living history farm offers ox driving classes. I've photographed the event and always believed it would be a great corporate management exercise!!! Just think about it. It's the ultimate exercise in communication.

As a former non-profit leader, I can think of many times when ox-driving would have come in handy in trying to get everyone moving in the same direction. But we couldn't use harnesses and whips.
