chicken coop under midwestern sky

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The farmer hasn't yet plowed and harrowed the field, and the stubble from last years corn crop stretches out to the horizon. A once busy chicken coop stands empty and slowly deteriorates under the harsh midwestern weather. This was quite an architectural delight with a vaulted roof with extra windows. With the chickens long gone it seems to me that this would make a lovely artists studio.

I have seen this site many times. Flat country that goes forever. Is this Iowa?

Sorry, didn't read the profile. Illinois. I have lived in Iowa and currently Indiana. When a storm cross across you can see it for miles. Some people probably think this is boring, but it really is beautiful and serene. Thanks for showing the midwest's beauty.

We love traveling and seeing other places, but after awhile we long for the beauty of the flatland. Like you said, it's beautiful and serene. - Suzanne

I know a poet/singer here in NH who uses an old chicken coop for a studio. Whatever works! :-)

Wish I had that coop on our farm. It would be a luxury hotel compared to what my birds have for housing now!

Love all of the colors and contrasts in this picture - greens and red, gold, gray sky and dark tree.
