5 b's catering

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

My conservative estimates on the amount of food served at Saturday nights Barn Dance is 5,000 pork chops and 2,000 chickens. The midwest is a prime pork producer and local caterers have refined the grilling of pork chops down to a science.

Like I said before, I always find the peripheral people at an event eminently more interesting than those holding court on the stage. So as the organizers of the event thanked everyone involved (long, long list) I snuck behind the tent searching for the "chop grillers", who had cooked everything fresh that evening. Here's the crew from 5 B's Catering. They deserve a free plug, although the barbecue pit boss is blocking their phone number, I'm sure they're located in northern Illinois or southern Wisconsin. The large grills are being cleaned out, the coals shoveled into large metal cans. It was an oppressively hot evening and this crew stood over the grills and cooked 7,000 pieces of meat.

It was awesome guys...thanks!

264 is a southern Wisconsin exchange. :)

Looks like it was a lot of fun. Heading to Dupage County fair myself in a couple of weeks - can't wait!!

I agree with your assessment that the people on the fringes tend to be more interesting than the people in the spotlight. I suppose I've told you how much I appreciate your fine eye, but it never hurts to be sure!

Yum! I love summer barbecues in the midwest. I lived there for a couple of years and always looked forward to them.

Nice picture.

The name of the company is 5B's Catering out of Waterman Illinois. They are one of the biggest caterers in Northern Illinois they are everywhere. I see them everywhere I go anyway. And their food is outstanding

I agree the 5 B's are outstanding, having gone to school with a couple of the B's, I also vouch for their upstanding character to go with great food and service!

5-B'S IS THE GREATEST CATERING SERVICE AROUND. THOSE CHOPS AND CHICKEN ARE ALWAYS DONE TO PERFECTION AND THEIR STAFF IS FIRST RATE. I BEEN TO THEIR EVENTS MANY TIMES AND ALWAYS THINK THEY ARE TEH BEST. IF YOU WANT A TOP NOTCH STAFF ASK FOR DAVE POPESCU ONE OF TEH ASST. MANAGERS HE IS THE BEST.

Just Had 5-B's Catering our BBQ fundraiser for 2100 people. It was the first time we had used 5-B's (we had used the other guys):( We were so happy with the Staff and the food was better than anyone else around. We plan on using them for all our events.

Not sure if Dave was there at the event but the rest of the staff were top-notch.

I have enjoyed 5-B's in the past and I thought that's what I was getting the other day, but it ended up being Fay's BBQ. I must say that, it was equal if not better than the food I've had from 5-B's. Are they from this area also? Thanks.

I have both Fays and 5-B's many different times and while they have similar menus--- there is no comparison. For some reason Fay's is always drier and saltier than the Bee's chops and chicken. It seems that Fays is beyond it's prime because you dont seem them all that much where as 5-B's is all over the place. Good work does pay off----keep up the good cooking
